On April 20, 2026, the high school choir and band from Pawnee City competed in the District Music Competition in Tecumseh. The band earned a superior rating, along with Justin Baehr’s baritone solo, Ava Schlund and Isabella (Bella) Seitz's vocal duet, Emily Koster's vocal solo, Bella's vocal solo, and the percussion quintet.
Receiving an excellent rating were the choir, girls' glee, the clarinet quintet, Bella's trombone solo, Allie Bassett and Addison Boverhuis' vocal duet, Delaney Rottman and Symanthea McDonald's vocal duet, and Payton Rose and Justin's trumpet/baritone duet.
When asking Justin about contest, he said, "I think I did ok, but the judges thought I did well because I got a 1 on my solo. My favorite song from District Music was Danse Carnival, and my favorite part of District Music was playing in our band and doing a duet with Payton."
