On Saturday, January 31, a select few from the speech team perform at HTRS. The people who attended the speech meet were Kailey Hartman in Persuasive and Extemp, Luke Hunzeker in Impromptu, Cael Johnson in Poetry, and Larkyn Vlcek in Humorous.
Cael placed second in both of his rounds that day. He said he was very pleased with his placement, given that it was his first meet and he was just trying to practice his script. Poetry is not his only event; he also does OID and Duet, but due to illness, they were unable to perform. Kailey said she thought she did pretty well at her first meet, and she performed both of her events. Larkyn said that she did better than she expected, placing first and second in her rounds. Humorous is not her only event; she is in an OID that didn't compete.
We had two people final: Kailey and Larkyn. Kailey finished third in both of her events. Larkyn competed in the finals and got second.
