On Thursday, January 29, the junior varsity girls' team play against the Falls City Tigers. The Indians won 26-25, with it coming down to the wire. The leading scorers were Ericca Gyhra with seven, followed by Kailyn Jensen with six, then Haylee Plager with five, Ainsley Rauner with four, and finally Breonna Gyhra and Emily Koster each with two.
When asked what the team has gotten better at as the season has progressed, Coach Banks stated, "Something the JV team has improved on throughout the season is learning to adapt to different situations and to change the game plan on the fly. The older girls who help us on the JV team have stepped into their leadership roles with confidence and have helped everyone on the team improve. All of the girls have grown throughout the season; they still have a long way to go and a lot to learn, but I'm looking forward to watching them progress through the rest of this season."
When asked how they did as an individual and as a team, Ainsley Rauner stated, "I think I did great with handling the ball and having good court vision. As a team, I think we did well. I think we could maybe be more aggressive and cover more areas. I think I have gotten better at handling the ball. Before this year, I had never been a 'point guard,' so I think it's kinda good for being my first year."
Their next game will be tonight at EMF in Friend.
