On December 5, Pawnee City’s varsity girls' team went up against the Frankfort Wildcats. In the thrilling game, we ended with a final score of 28-36, with the Wildcats coming out on top.

Leading our team was Emalyse Gottula with nine total points. Following her was Kinsley Benson with eight and Madelyn Osborne with six points. With 3 points was Breonna Gyhra and finally with 2 points was Haylee Plager.

When asked what they could’ve done better, Breonna Gyhra said, “We could have done better controlling the ball on our side in the 4th quarter. We lost our momentum in the 4th quarter, and we were getting tired.”

The head coach, Mr. Kluck, commented on what he thinks the team did well. “I think we competed well against a team that historically we've had a really difficult time competing against. We weren't afraid, and we met Frankfort's physicality with a lot of our own. I think we're starting to figure out who we are a little bit, and we're playing together well and keeping our expectations high. We expect to be good.”

Pawnee City girls' basketball plays against Lourdes Central Catholic on Dec. 16, 2026 at home! Good luck, girls!
