college

Earlier this year, the high schoolers attended the "Apply2College Day" event. Mrs. Lisa Blecha worked very hard to ensure that every had student a person to talk to. She invited several colleges for students to visit; she also brought in businesses and military to attend this event for people who are not interested in attending college after high school.

Some of the colleges that attended were UNO, UNL, Peru, UNK, Midland, Wayne State, SCC, and Highland. Some of the businesses that attended included Haverkamp, Farmers Co-op, and Duncan Aviation. We also had some military personnel in attendance, including members of the National Guard and the Air Force.

We asked students some questions about the Apply2College Day. Here is some of their feedback. Denielle Gyhra said that she visited Midland, UNK, Central Community College, and Wayne State. She said that she could see herself attending Central Community College, but she would prefer to complete her internships with the Kansas City Chiefs for a role in broadcasting. One of the seniors, Erynn Anderson, said that she visited a variety of college tables, including UNL, UNO, and Southeast. Erynn said that she thought UNO was the most intriguing. She applied and was then accepted into UNO.

A big thank you to all the businesses and colleges that attended, and special thanks to Mrs. Lisa Blecha for making this day possible!
