On September 11, 2025, the Pawnee City band traveled to Humboldt, Nebraska to play in the Richardson County Fair parade. Pawnee City, led by sophomore drum major Haylee Plager, had been one of 7 bands to perform that day.
Coming out of retirement for the first time in over 20 years, the Pawnee City cheerleaders had the opportunity to cheer behind the band. They all felt as though it was a fun experience and that it was nice to be involved with the band throughout the parade. Being behind the band gave them a chance to dip their toes into what it is like to be a cheerleader.
When asked how her band experience has been, Layla Fetherkile responded by saying that she had originally started band in 5th grade and chose the flute, and has played the same instrument ever since. She said her favorite part of the Richardson County Fair was riding the rides.
