The Cross Country team has completed their first three meets. The girls started off the season at the Cass County fairgrounds to run at the Weeping Water Invite on August 28. In the junior high race, Aubrey Sisco placed first with a time of 11:03 followed by Alana Gyhra with a time of 12:03. Freshman Tiffany Sampont, our only high school runner, ran a time of 27:36 and placed 13th.
Next was their meet at the Tecumseh Country Club on September 7. Pawnee City's fastest runner was Aubrey Sisco, who had a time of 11:06; Alana Gyhra had the next fastest time, 12:17; then came Sophia Sunneberg at 12:43, Emma Turnbull at 14:05, and Ava Schlund at 18:25. Tiffany Sampont ran a time of 27:46 on the longer course.
On September 11, the team competed in Fairbury. The Pawnee City junior high placed fifth in the meet. Pawnee City's fastest runner was Aubrey Sisco with a time of 9:19; Alana Gyhra had the next fastest time, 10:58, followed by Sophia Sunneberg at 11:42, and Ava Schlund at 15:01.
The team is scheduled to run again on September 25 in Falls City. Good luck, girls!
