Nicole Hoffman is the new third-grade teacher in Pawnee City, having previously taught kindergarten here. Before coming to Pawnee City, she taught at Sandy Creek Elementary School in the fifth grade for five years. Before that, she was a stay-at-home mom with her five kids. Mrs. Hoffman is married to Shawn Hoffman; they have five kids, four boys and one girl. Timothy is in sixth grade, Elijah is in third grade, Bobby is in second grade, Michael is in kindergarten, and Lydia is not in school yet. Mrs. Hoffman and her family live in the country, and they enjoy hunting, being outside, fishing, and swimming.
When asked what brought her to Pawnee City Public School, she answered, “I grew up in Table Rock. I moved away to go to college, but after getting married and starting a family, we had the chance to buy some land. I thought it would be a great time to come home.”
Being a third-grade teacher takes lots of planning for each class lesson. When asked about her goals for the incoming year, she replied, “I think the goal is always to help the kids become strong learners and to keep the love of learning alive. The third-grade kids love to have fun, so if you can capture that and turn it into academic joy, that will help them learn lots.”
When asked about her favorite memory of the first few weeks of school, she responded, “I love the new class, and it makes me feel like it's my first year all over with all the changes. I think my favorite part is the read-aloud. The kids have fallen in love with the book, and they are so excited about what's going to happen next in the story. Also the science activities, working with magnets and watching their brains click like 'I got it!!!!'"
Welcome to the third grade room, Mrs. Hoffman!
