On Friday, September 5, the Pawnee City Indians face off against the Dorchester Longhorns in a riveting football game. The final score was 41-6, with Payton Rose leading the pack with 111 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and nine carries. Following his lead was Braydon Frakes, who also scored two touchdowns, and Saung Bouthavong, who rushed 69 yards for a touchdown. Dylan Layne also scored with four conversion points, and Liam Glathar had 46 passing yards.
When asked about the game, Coach Brumbaugh commented, “I thought the team played better this week than they did in the opening game. I think just having a game and getting rid of some of those first-game jitters helped.” Then, when asked what went well and what did not go well, he commented, “I thought our defense played well. We were a lot more assignment sound than we were in our first game. Things we still have to work on would be our special teams. We can't have simple breakdowns during that part of the game.” When asked what player stood out to him that night, Coach Brumbaugh said, “I think Dawson Wilkinson did a great job. He only had 3 days to learn a new position. He stepped up without complaining and did something new because he knew his team needed him.”
