JV game vs Dorchester

On September 8, the Pawnee City junior varsity team plays a home game against the Dorchester Longhorns. It was the JV’s first game this year, and they led Dorchester until the fourth quarter when they lost by two touchdowns.

Coach Scott Brumbaugh commented on the game when asked how it went. “In the first half, the boys executed the offense well.  As the game progressed, Dorchester made some adjustments, and we became a little fatigued, which hindered our ability to execute as well. We need to work on being able to run more of the offense.  Right now, our knowledge of the playbook is limited. We have to be able to open it up and get a passing game going to keep the defense honest. For the next game, I am hoping we can pass the ball more.  This comes from the boys being comfortable in knowing what they are doing and the routes that they are running.”

Sophomore Braydon Frakes also had thoughts after the game. “We got to the ball as a team, tackling lower and better. We can improve on blocking, running the ball, and reading the holes. I can improve on reading holes better, tackling better, kicking better, and being in better shape.”

The junior varsity team is playing again in Lincoln on September 22 against Parkview Christian.
