pre-school first day class

On August 19, 2025, Pawnee City School welcomes its youngest students on their first day of pre-school as our pre-school teacher, Ms. Coffey, greets her 16 newest students. Ms. Coffey is an incredible teacher, having taught for 8 years now, 2 of those years with pre-school. In her classroom, she has 1 para and a foster grandmother who help in her class every day.

The students were a bit nervous to start their new school year; however, they quickly warmed up to Ms. Coffey’s warm smile and kind words. Ms. Coffey had a lot of fun planned for the students' first day. She had a scavenger hunt prepared for the children, with clues Pete the Cat hid for them, and they said excitedly that they had a lot of fun finding them all.

Ellison Bernadt, one of the new girls starting preschool this year, said she was nervous and even a little scared at first, but she likes her teacher and is making new friends. She said her favorite part, however, was coloring. Another young student joining Pawnee City Schools this year is Kaden Kluck. He said his first day was fun. He was scared to leave his mother at first, but he enjoys the class and learning. He also has a favorite part of school, which is playing, but especially with the Mr. Potato Heads.

Yes, playing and coloring are fun, but Ms. Coffey has tons more planned. She plans to teach the children through hands-on learning and with hands-on activities. They will make visits to both the school and public libraries. She also has all kinds of entertainment and playtime planned out, such as center time, arts and crafts, and projects.
