On Friday, March 28, Pawnee City’s finalists from District speech competes in State Speech at Kearney High School. Along with the finalists, other team members tagged along to support their peers in competition.

While in Kearney, Madolyn Gottula competed in duet and OID (Oral Interpretation of Drama), Anna Meints competed in duet and OID, Cameron Ottersberg competed in OID, Kaitlyn Svoboda competed in OID, Abby Dietrich competed in OID, Cael Johnson and Tyler Tegtmeier competed in duet, Larkyn Vlcek competed in humorous, and Kailey Hartman competed in persuasive and extemp (Extemporaneous). 

Kailey placed second in extemp; Cael and Tyler placed third in their duet; and Anna, Cameron, Madolyn, Kaitlyn, and Abby placed third in their OID. 

When asked about the State Speech experience, Anna Meints said, “My favorite part was seeing all of the best speeches in the state and never being bored in a round.” Cara Pierce commented on how the environment at State Speech was so much fun.

When asked about the season overall, both Anna and Cara agreed that there were ups and downs, but there was much growth and overall a great season with lots of improvements.
