On April 8, the high school choir and band hold their Spring Concert at VanHorne Park. This is the first year they have performed in the new amphitheater. Mrs. Veleba said, “I know the band plays pep band music outside for football games, but this was their first concert outside and they played very well. Of all of the songs they play, 'Balkan Seven' is still my favorite this spring.”
Mrs. Veleba continued, “I need to thank Steve Glenn for inviting the band and choir to perform in the amphitheater at VanHorne Park. We had a great crowd, even though it was a little chilly and windy. This experience was something different, but the parents and students I've talked to really enjoyed it and want to have more concerts there. I also need to thank the Southeast Nebraska Community Band for letting us use their trailer of equipment.”
When Mrs. Dieckgrafe, the choir director, was asked what song the choir performed the best, she stated,”I thought the choir did great on 'Dancing Queen'.”
Isaac Seitz also commented, "We performed many songs, but my favorite was probably 'I'm Still Standing'."
Mrs. Dieckgrafe and Mrs. Veleba recognized our choir and/or band seniors. That night, they recognized Madolyn Gottula, Anna Meints, Cameron Ottersberg, Cara Pierce, Isaac Seitz, and Kayla Snyder.
At this time, Mrs. Dieckgrafe and Mrs. Veleba are planning on having the Spring Concert there again next year, if the weather permits.
