Vespers

On Sunday, Dec. 10, Pawnee City hosts the 6-12 Vespers Concert. Mrs. Anne Veleba and Mrs. Laura Dieckgrafe have been working hard to make this concert the best it can be; even with limited rehearsals due to absences from school activities, the bands and choirs did well.  Following the concert, everyone was invited to the lunchroom for cookies and treats.

When asked how she thought the choir did during the performance, Mrs. Dieckgrafe responded, “I think all the choirs did a great job. I was proud of the fun the JH kids had with their last song, and I thought the HS choir demonstrated several different styles of music well.” What was Mrs. Dieckgrafe's favorite song on the concert?  “Back to December with the HS girls glee.”

The band played a song called “20 Carols in Two Minutes,” which involved the audience guessing which Christmas songs were being played.  Three winners were awarded a prize for their efforts.  Mrs. Veleba commented on the day, “I thought the bands played well at the concert. With music, there are always things that can be played better, but the students really did a great job on this performance." She added, “Overall, I think that Jingle Bell Rock was my favorite song because it was played by the combined junior high and high school band.”

Thank you to everyone who came to the concert and helped us celebrate the holiday season. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
