UNL Trips

During the week of November 6, Mrs. Lisa Blecha takes the sixth graders and freshmen to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

When asked about the trip with the sixth grade, Mrs. Lisa Blecha stated, “This was for the UNL Sportsmanship Rally! The kids were able to hear from Husker athletes and coaches about decision-making, forward-thinking, and their tips on how to be successful. Some kids got to go out on the court to participate in activities, and Emma Turnbull got to go out onto the court with Bekka Allick and Jordan Larson! They also got pizza and were able to watch the Husker women's basketball home opener. It was GREAT!”

When asked about the day, Emma Turnbull stated, “My favorite part about the trip was probably standing next to Jordan Larson. I also got to sign a $1,000,000 check that was written out to ‘My Future Self.’ Overall, the whole day was a lot of fun, and I think the whole class enjoyed it.”

The freshmen participated in a different kind of trip. Mrs. Blecha commented, “This was a group college visit and they did great! We had a really good tour guide and the kids asked great questions. The kids also had good feedback, they liked that UNL had much to offer, but some downsides were the dorm size and also the fact that there is a large enrollment.”

When asked about the trip, Shyla Clark said, “The college dorm room is able to be customized, and the college cafeteria had a lot of good food. There were a lot of different opportunities that you could try and see what you wanted to major in.”
