Mr. Karst

Pawnee City School welcomes Shane Karst, a special education teacher for the elementary. When asked how he likes Pawnee City, he said, “I am really liking it. Everyone has been very welcoming and willing to help me adjust to my new position.”

He continued, “I have been teaching for about four years now and haven't really found a position that I have wanted, but this one was what I was looking for. I love the smaller community and school vibes, and it was closely located to my hometown of Falls City.”

Mr. Karst attended Peru State College and got his bachelor’s degree, and now he will finish his master's in Curriculum and Instruction in July, also with Peru State College. He will be attending Chadron State soon to work towards his second master's degree as a Special Education Generalist (K-12).

When he was asked what made him go into teaching, Mr. Karst stated, “That has been a question I have been asked many times and I have never been able to give a definitive answer. I remember back to the first time I did job shadowing in school I shadowed my favorite teacher, and ever since then, that was what my heart has always been drawn to. I have worked a few other jobs in my life, but I have always found myself wanting to be in the educational field. I love to help people succeed, and being in this profession, you get that opportunity every day.”

If you see Mr. Karst, make sure to welcome him to Pawnee City!
