On Friday, October 6, Pawnee City students, teachers, and parents attend the Homecoming pep rally in the high school gym. Just like years past, there were games, speeches, and cheers designed to cheer on the football team to a WIN.
Students played against coaches as they raced to see who could win in the toilet paper race. One person held on while the other wrapped them up. They could not break the toilet paper and had to use the whole roll.
In the tradition of Seniors vs. Parents, we had games that contributed to the Seniors celebrating their last Homecoming. This year’s game was the marshmallow toss. The seniors and parents were on opposite sides of one another. The seniors had a bag of marshmallows and tried tossing their marshmallows into the cups their parents were holding, there was a time limit with a decent distance from one another. Whoever had the most marshmallows in a cup won.
There was also a VERY exciting game of musical chairs. The last two standing were Trey Marteney and JW Vlcek.
Coaches also gave speeches for their teams, and to end the pep rally, the seniors led the Pawnee City cheer. The boys went on to win their game against Sterling with a score of 44-13.
The football boys start the first round of playoffs at home against Sioux County. The game begins at 5:00 on Friday, October 27. Regular passes are not accepted, and admission is $6 for students and $8 for adults.
