On Friday, October 6, seniors from the 1983 Pawnee City football team are recognized at half-time of the Homecoming game. Those in attendance (pictured above L to R) were Harold Richardson, Scott Vonderfecht, Jeff Schlender, Scott Beethe, Brian Droge, and John Brown.
These players helped to lead their team to the Galaxy Conference Championship and finish their 1983 season with a record of 9-0. The team decided to stay 8-man that year, even though they would lose the chance of going to playoffs. According to Scott Beethe, "We had a lot of fun on and off the field and made friends for a lifetime on the opposing side of the ball."
