On Sunday, August 27, the National Honor Society picks up trash along the highway. When asked how many students attended, Mrs. Bloss said that including Oscar, 11 students showed up that day. She elaborated on the activity, “We went two miles just north of town. It was our first time. It went really well, I thought.”
Logan Maloley wrote, “I feel this project was a good choice. It was easy to set up and helpful for our community and environment.”
Kennadi Benson stated, “We walked about 2 miles or so of land going through ditches and over highways to help make our earth a better place. We cleaned up for about 2 hours or so and filled a lot of bags. We saw a variety of different people and a really nice guy on his side by side who helped us out a little. Our backs hurt for sure after that day from lots of bending over and running around, but it was all worth it!
Mrs. Bloss continued, “I'm proud of them for starting the first NHS community service ongoing project. It's great that we'll always have this visible way for the community to see them giving back. It's especially important to me because part of the purpose of the NHS is community service. Now, we're a true chapter walking the walk.”
