The season has finally come to end, the wrestling season that is. The 2011-2012 HTRS/Pawnee City wrestling team finished their season with a Dual record of 2-4 and the best tournament finish of 6th place in the Malcolm Clipper Invite.

Save a Life! Give Blood

What does it take to save a life? You can be a surgeon, an organ donor, an EMT, or you could be an ordinary high school student or community member and saving a life could mean giving one pint of blood. Giving blood is so easy and it only takes about an hour of your time, the time needed to save a life.

With his charismatic attitude and a passion for leading, Aaron Davis taught many schools what being a leader meant. Playing at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, he knew first hand how one’s decisions could affect another. For many students, this message was easy to relate to, because he knew how we act and how easy it is to be pulled into the wrong crowd.

Lady Indian’s Basketball Wrap Up

Even though the Pawnee City Lady Indians finished the season 7 -17, they had one of the biggest achievements of the season, knocking off top ranked Fall City Sacred Heart in the Pioneer Conference tournament. The Lady Indians also won the HTRS Holiday Tournament giving them their first wins of the season.

You Can Be a Lifesaver By Learning CPR!

For several years Mr. Strong has had the 9th grade health class learn CPR. It’s a skill the students need to learn to save someone’s life. Brandon Willey and Heidi Hinrichsen are part of the Pawnee County Ambulance and EMT squad, and they volunteer their time to instruct the freshman on First Aid, and teach them how to do the basics of CPR. Brandon and Heidi show the students the proper ways of CPR.

We are also collecting items for Project Response, this is a non-profit crisis center that provides support and advocacy to victums of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other related issues. The donated items serve people in Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, and Richardson counties.

This statistic caught the eye of city member Marie Glenn and the Ministerial Association when they realized that this hits close to home. Marie Glenn received a call from the Food Bank of Lincoln, asking if she could please sponsor this project called, Blessings in a Bag.

The first stop was to UNO, although this campus was further away from home and a lot bigger than Peru, it came with a lot of advantages. For instance, Omaha is a large city, and UNO is located in a good spot.
