Friday is full of great events to celebrate Homecoming.  Students will be treated to a cookout for lunch followed by a friendly Dodgeball Tournament.  Then students will proceed to the courthouse at 1:00 pm for a Pep Rally put on by the Senior Class.  The football game will begin at 7:00 pm with the crowning of this year's King and Queen following the game.  The night with conclude with a dance in the Lunchroom until midnight.

Get Your Pawnee City Indian Apparel

     The junior high are selling numerous Pawnee City shirts, ladies fitted shorts, basketball shorts, sweatpants, caps and blankets. Orders will be taken until October 9, 2015.  If interested in purchasing, please contact a seventh or eighth grader at PCHS, or contact Mrs. Cindy Myers at the school.  Order forms may also be downloaded here and sent to the school. No charges please, and make checks payable to Pawnee City Junior High.

     All shirts – t’shirts and sweatshirts are in black but may be personalized for an additional fee; sweatpants are available in gray; shorts are available in red or black; blankets are available in red or black; caps are black with red accents.  See below for samples of designs on the various items.

Basketball Team organizes Havest Dash

A new addition to the Harvest Bash festivities in 2015, the Harvest Dash will take place Saturday morning at 10 am.  Participants will begin on the south sidewalk of the Courthouse and wind through a scenic stretch of streets, trails, and even past cornfield before finishing back at the courthouse!  
    Registration is online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NE/PawneeCity/HarvestDash and will also be available on race day beginning at 8:30 am on the south lawn of the courthouse square.  Paper registrations are also available for download at www.PawneeCity.com.  Participants will receive a Harvest Dash water bottle and post-race snacks and awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers from each division, as well as the top overall male and female finishers.  Any questions can be directed to Dani Niss via email at daniss@pawneecityschool.net or by phone at 402-852-2667.

The 2015 Yearbooks were handed out today, if you ordered one and are no longer in school stop by and pick it up in the HS office.  If you would like to purchase one there are a few copies available for $40 each.

Excellent Assembly to Start the School Year

     On Monday, August 23, 2015 Mike Donahue, from R5 Productions, presented a serious but comedic message to the students at Pawnee City. His message to the students was about  respecting yourself, and to “ walk in a mile in other people’s shoes” instead of judging right away.  Kyle Kaster commented, “The biggest lesson from this whole assembly was that you shouldn’t judge people because you don’t know what they have gone through outside of school grounds.”

Individual student pictures will be taken Tuesday September 1, 2015.  Picture packets were sent home with the elementary students.  Junior High and High School students wanting to order school pictures can pick up an order packet in the HS office.

Make Up Session Technology Bootcamp

If you were unable to attend the Parent Technology last week, there will be a second session today August 26th in the HS Media Center starting at 4:00 pm.  Reminder your student in grades 9 through 12 will not be able to take their computer home until a parent or guardian attends the training.

State Track Results

Congratulations to all the athletes that participated, here are the results for the Pawnee City Track team:  Clayton Branek 3rd Discus with a throw of 144'11", Alex Menninga 6th 3200m run with a time of 10:13.6.  Hannah Davis 8th in Discus with a throw of 108'6", Jenna Habegger 6th in Shot with a throw of 38'6.75", and Mariah Willey takes home 3 medals 2nd in High Jump 5'2'', 2nd in 100m hurdles with a time of 15.38, and 8th in long jump with a jump of 16'2''.  Great Job.

Join Us at the Third Annual Technology Fair

     This year marks the third annual Technology Fair, which is taking place April 21st at 7:00 pm in the gym. Parents who attend this event won’t be required to attend the Technology Boot Camp in the fall. Either event is required for your student to be provided with a laptop.

Pawnee Speech Team Brings Their Best to State

     Several Pawnee City High School students have doubled their success this school year by making it to state in two of their academic activities. Six members of the State Champion Play Production cast have also placed at this year’s State Speech contest. State Speech was held in Kearney, NE on March 27, 2015.

    One in five people in a relationship have been either hit or slapped, and not all of them are girls as many people believe. On Wednesday March 18th, a group called Revolution from Columbus, Nebraska visited the Pawnee City High School to talk about appropriate behavior in relationships.

Pawnee City Faces Tough Competition at the HTRS Speech Invite

     The speech girls of Pawnee went all out, scoring the team five awards at the HTRS invite last Saturday, the twenty-eighth of February. While not all of these awards were for being in the top six, as per usual, this meet was set up differently than most of the others. At HTRS, the speech kids competed in their first two rounds before finals were posted. Listed with those names that made it to finals were “Honors”, or kids that-- despite not making it in the top 6-- were great competitors of the day and would move on to compete for the next highest rankings.

Almost 3 million men are victims of physical assault in the United States and 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. These facts are according to the Safe Horizons website, which is the nation’s leading victim assistance organization.

Play Production Public Performances

     On Wednesday, November 26, the Pawnee City School is holding their annual Play Production Matinee in the High Schools auditorium at 1pm. Also on Monday, December 1st, they will be holding a public performance in the High School auditorium at 8pm.. This year the play is about Nora Blodget, she has Alzheimers. Nora's life flashes before her, revealing her former life as a dynamic teacher, a caring wife, and a loving mother. Will Nora's daughter find her mother in time? The Play Production cast has been working  hard to perfect each and every scene. So please come join them on Wednesday, November 26 at 1pm or on Monday, December 1st at 8pm.

     Last Tuesday, October 7th, the Pawnee City High School senior class took a trip to visit the Tecumseh prison. The day was put together by English teacher Mrs. Meyers and intended to further the seniors’ knowledge of the prison system inside the U.S.

     The Volleyball Team will be selling the Dig Pink t-shirts again this year to raise money for cancer awareness.  There is a sign up sheet in the high school office.  Deadline for shirt sign up is  Monday 10/6/14 and the cost is $12.00 per shirt.  Make checks payable to Pawnee City School.


     Please support the Volleyball Team on Tuesday, 10/14/14 when they take on Lourdes Central Catholic by wearing pink.  Also that night there will be decorated pink pumpkins that will be auctioned off with all the proceeds from the shirt and pumpkin sales going to the Pawnee County Medical Foundation.

From September 29th through October 3rd, the halls of PCHS are going to be crowded with students and teachers showing off their school pride, so whip out those cameras because you won’t want to miss a thing.

“Say Cheese” School Picture Day Next Week

     School Pictures will be taken on Thursday September 4th, starting at 8:00 AM. Students can pick up a packet in the High School or Elementary office, and please bring the packets the day of pictures. Members of Journalism will escort classes to the gym. Pictures will be taken by Hometown Photos. All students Pre-K through 12th grade, including all Faculty and Staff will have their picture taken. These pictures will be used in the yearbook, so dress appropriately.
