Indians Compete Hard Against FCSH
By Megan Wenzl, Senior
The Indians played the Fall City Sacred Heart Irish on January 23. The Indians came up short to the Irish 58-65.
The Indian’s competed well to keep up with the Irish. Coach Colvin states, “The team has improved in many areas. We are playing with more confidence, we are passing and moving the ball better, and our competitive mentality has gotten better. The Indian’s shot the ball better, and we did a good job of hitting the offensive glass and gave ourselves extra opportunities.” Tyler Gyhra led the team with 19 points, hitting 7 out of 11 field goals and hitting 5 out of 9 3-point field goals. Coach states, “on Friday we proved to ourselves that we could compete for four quarters against a quality opponent.”
The boys got off to a slow start again and had too many turnovers. Coach states, “They struggled from the free throw line, and that hurt us in the second half, and we missed some free throws that could’ve kept us closer.” Ted Gyhra led the team in rebounds with five offensive rebounds and six defensive rebounds for a total of 11. Coach Colvin is proud of the effort the boys gave and how hard they competed. They are so close, but they have to keep working to get over that last hurdle and win some of these games against good teams.
