Cross Country Team Finishes Strong with Alex Menninga Going to State

The cross country team competed in districts on October 16th. The team placed ninth out of 13 teams. Trevor Gyhra placed 52nd with the time of 22:45. Tyler Gyhra placed 49th with the time of 21:36. Alex Gyhra placed 45th with the time of 21:24. Jack McCulloch was unable to finish due to health issues. Alex Menninga placed 10th with the time of 18:27, earning a spot in the state cross country meet, where he placed 39th out of 145 boys with a time of 18:32.
The 2014 cross country season was a success with the team placing in a meet for the first time. Also, Alex Menninga competed at state for the second time in his career. All runners continue to improve their times. Coach Uher states, “ I think we have some talented runners coming back for next year, and we will see if we can keep getting better.” Uher continues with, “If they want to improve from the previous year, then they are going to have to put in some mileage over the summer.”
