A Night of Musical Talent
By Alexa Cline, Senior
Of all the autumn festivities, Pawnee City’s fall concert is always one to stir the town’s residents from their homes-- gathering them all together to watch as the high school exhibit their talents in the art of music. Last Monday, October 27, the school’s showstoppers, chorus, and band all came together to perform for the masses in their own auditorium.
Kristi Robinson’s showstoppers opened the evening with I’ve Got the Music In Me. Later they went on to perform Bridge Over Troubled Water, which featured the Senior Quartet: Hayden Meyer, Marissa Myers, Hannah Davis and Shelby Hundley. Following them in the singing portion was the 7th grade chorus and the high school chorus.
Afterwards Anne Veleba took stage, leading the crowd into the band portion of the night with fourth graders on recorders. Later in the program the Brave Band & 7th graders combined to play Attack of the Slide Trombones, which featured trombone players TJ Mawhiney and Shamar Willey. Following this group was the Warrior Band, featuring key musicians Zane Grizzle, Henry Meyer, Mason Ladman, and the percussion section. From here, it was the High School Band’s job to wrap up the night with three final songs-- Torch of Liberty, Park Street Celebration, and El Cabara.
