by Grace Parks, Sophomore

On Monday October 6, 2014 the Pawnee City Indian JV/ Freshman Sophomore team placed 5th in the Falls City Tournament. They played three teams: Falls City Sacred Heart losing 2-0, Falls City Public beating them 2-1, and a team from Maryville Missouri beating them 2-1 as well. The games were played best 2 out of 3.
The first game the Indians played was against the Falls City Sacred Heart Irish. The Indians lost that game in two sets. Pawnee struggled with serving and serve receive but they had a lot of good plays as well. A few girls who usually play Junior Varsity did not suit up due to the tournament only being Freshman-Sophomore.
The second game was against Falls City Public Tigers. The first set the Indians dropped to the Tigers.( score) They fought hard but couldn’t quite pull it off. However the girls started off strong in the second set. Grace Parks served 8 points without interruption. They definitely improved their serving from the first set and first game. With the help of serves the Indians defeated the Tigers in the second set. (score)The third set was back and forth but the Indians pulled off the win. (score)
The third game was against the Maryville Spoofhounds. The Indians just weren’t focused the first set so they lost. (score)The second set they fought back and won.(score) The third set the Indians (lead score) but the Spoofhounds fought back to come within ???  But the Indians were able to hold on and win it (score) The Lady Indians  received a 5th place trophy.
