Pawnee City Football Update
By Lydia Gyhra, Sophomore
The Indians have now played four football games and have a record of 1-3. They faced the Diller Odell Griffins last friday night, September 26th. It was a tough game for the football team, with the Griffins winning their homecoming game 58-16.
The Indians struggled the first half of the game on defense, with the Griffins scoring 44 points and Pawnee scoring 8. The football team was a little outsized vs. Diller Odell. Head coach Mitch Shepherd stated, “whenever you are outsized verses an opponent the best thing you can do is reinforce proper leverage positions, and then we have to play within our defense.”
In the second half, the team played tougher defense only allowing the Griffins to score 2 touchdowns. According to junior Noah Brown, “one positive thing that the team is gaining experience. Having the underclassmen play more in games will benefit us for next year.”
The Indians will play their homecoming game against Friend this Friday, October 3. Kick off is at 7:00 pm
