Pawnee Volleyball Starts Once Again!

By Lydia Gyhra, Sophomore

The Lady Indians started off their volleyball season with the Freeman Invite. The tournament started September 4th and continued on the 6th. They finished 1-4 in the tournament, defeating the Sterling Jets 2-0, on the opening night. Coach Niss is pleased with how the team is understanding the new volleyball system and improving on a daily basis.

The girls played hard against Diller-Odell their first game, but finished just shy of a win. One thing that the girls struggled with in the Diller game was their serves. They then played Sterling later that night. The girls played with a lot of heart throughout both games on Thursday night. The Lady Indians had an outstanding back row defense. According to Coach Dani Niss, “the first three matches was some of the best defense I’ve seen from most high school teams”. Shelby Hundley, senior, contributed a lot to this defense by picking up a lot of hard hits.  The Lady Indians are looking forward to their next matchup against Johnson-Brock Eagles, Tuesday September 9.
