Lady Indian’s Basketball Wrap Up

Ashlee Droge, Senior

Even though the Pawnee City Lady Indians finished the season 7 -17, they had one of the biggest achievements of the season, knocking off top ranked Fall City Sacred Heart in the Pioneer Conference tournament. The Lady Indians also won the HTRS Holiday Tournament giving them their first wins of the season. The Lady Indians showed many improvements this season, but the most important strength was coming together as a team, working together and never giving up.

The team also had some weaknesses throughout the season, one of the biggest weakness was being able to play a full 32 minutes of basketball.

When asked to sum up this basketball season, Assistant Coach Brooke Pralle said “ Successful in the sense of coming together as a team and having good teammates”. Coach Leisha Tennal summed up the season by saying “The back of our T-shirts really sums up our team this year: "You have a choice: You can either throw in the towel or use it to wipe the sweat off your face." We never "threw in the towel." Whether we were up by 10 or down by 30, the girls never quit playing. As a coach, it was fun to see the girls play with that kind of heart. Some great characters both on and off the court were revealed this season. We graduate some great senior leaders this year, but they have set the tone for years to come.”
