Indians Football Season Concluded
By Lydia Gyhra, Sophomore
The Indians finished their football season by playing in the first round of playoffs October 30th. Pawnee faced off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic. The Bluejays were ranked 5th in the playoff bracket. It was a long trip and a long night for the Indians. From the opening kick off the Bluejays dominated the Indians. The Indians were outscored 64-2 ending the 2014 football season.
The Indians concluded their season with a record of 3-6. The team achieved one of their goals which was making the playoffs. Ted Gyhra led the team with the most tackles, and Cory Kettelhake led in rushing, just short of 1000 yards. Cory finished with 911 rushing yards, and exceeded over 1000 all purpose yards for the entire season. Voy Pearson and Taylor Voight led the team in receiving yards. “The Indians were able to play through a lot of difficult circumstances and that shows character”, states head coach Mitch Shepherd. Shepherd thinks the football team has a bright future, one which the team needs to keep building on through competition in other sports, off-season conditioning, and working on their mental toughness. With all this hard work and dedication, next year can be a very successful season.
