School Safety and the Standard Response Protocol
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Schools and communities must, more than ever, be prepared for a variety of emergency situations. This year, our school has begun to take a more concentrated approach to establish plans to be prepared for major emergency situations.
This note is being provided to inform you that our staff and students have been learning how to respond at school during emergency situations using the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is being adopted by school districts across the state of Nebraska, and the Nebraska Department of Education is encouraging every school in Nebraska to follow the SRP to react to emergency situations in schools, or at school functions. Pawnee City Public Schools is one of many districts in Nebraska that has adopted the SRP.
Please click HERE to watch a 20-minute video about the SRP at Pawnee City Public Schools. You can also visit the following website for more information about the procedures: www.iloveuguys.org.
Providing for your child’s safety when at school and in our care is a major responsibility of our staff. The entire staff at Pawnee City Public Schools has been educated and trained on a variety of situations and will be prepared to make prompt and responsible decisions in any situation that could threaten the safety of the students. We will continue to better prepare our students, staff, and facilities to make are schools as safe as possible.
If you have any questions about our emergency preparations, please feel free to contact to the elementary at (402) 852-2411, or the high school at (402) 852-2988.
